Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) In this article, we tried field test of a proposed SDMA system that comprises smart antennas of a base station that adaptively control radiation patterns and polarization, and mobile terminals that employ a dual-polarized antenna that communicate using polarization assigned by the base station. A 2.2GHz band dual-polarized base station antenna and a measurement equipment recording both level and phase data are constructed for the field trial. We analyze the characteristics of cross polarization discrimination, phase correlation and bit error rate for 2 users, and appear their influence on user discrimination characteristics. Moreover, their influence can be decreased by a proposed polarization assignment control method. We found that a combination of 2-branch base station and dual polarization terminals is more effective than that of 4-branch base station and single polarization terminals.
