Performance of Beamforming in the Forward Link with Smart Antenna Testbed for IMT-2000

Abstract(in English) We have developed a smart antenna testbed system for IMT-2000, and carried out field trials with the developed system for the evaluation of the beamforming performance in forward link. It was confirmed that a beam center for a desired user terminal is formed in the direction of the user terminal and that a null steers in the direction of another undesired user terminal, and we found a reduction of transmitting power in a base station for the undesired user terminal. We also found improvement of the reduction by using TR-BPCal algorithm that calibrates a difference of antenna elements radiation characteristics in reverse and forward link frequency.
