Forward Link Broadband OFCDM Packet Wireless Access Achieving Peak Throughput of 100 Mbps

Abstract(in English) This paper proposed a basic air interface in physical layer with broadband Orthogonal Frequency and Code Division Multiplexing (OFCDM) employing 101.5 MHz bandwidth (the number of sub-carriers is 768, the sub-carrier frequency spacing is 131.836 kHz), in order to achieve peak throughput of more than 100 Mbps in the forward link. By employing the radio link parameters such as the frame format of 0.5 msec length employing QPSK data modulation, Turbo coding with the coding rate of 3/4, and the 15 code-multiplexed channels whose spreading factor are 16, the peak throughout of 103.68 Mbps is realized. Simulation results demonstrated that the OFCDM using the above frame format with 2-branch antenna diversity reception achieves the average packet error rate (PER) = 10^-2 at the average received E_b/N_0 = 7.6 dB in a broadband multipath fading channel (the exponential decayed 12-path, the maximum multipath delay time of 1.30 μsec, the maximum Doppler frequency f_D = 20 Hz). Furthermore, even in a fast fading channel, such as f_D = 400 Hz (e.g., the corresponding moving speed of approximately 80km/h for the carrier frequency of 5 GHz), the peak throughput of more than 100 Mbps is realizable, where the corresponding average received E_b/N_0 = 10.6 dB for achieving the average PER = 10^-2.
