Improved cellular phone communication quality in skyscraper through electromagnetic shielding

Abstract(in English) We propose using an electromagnetic wave shield to cause diffraction to reduce interference between base stations using the same frequency. In skyscrapers, interference from many base stations in the same line-of-sight makes cellular phone use impaired. We experimented in shield room to study the effect of using the electromagnetic shield. Our experiments and simulations revealed that using the electromagnetic shield broadens the cellular phone use area. This characteristic of using electromagnetic wave shield should improve cellular phone communication in skyscrapers.
