Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Digital Terrestrial Broadcasting in Japan utilizes UHF band and is going to range from 470MHz to 770MHz. Thus, a receiver antenna should cover 50% bandwidth. On the other hand, industry-wide trend of a mobile phone inclines toward an integrated antenna because of its design flexibility. According to a prevailing view, an integrated antenna gets roughly 15% continuous bandwidth at the most, but it is still far narrower than expected one as the receiver. In this paper, a noble loop antenna with a switch mounted on one end of its conductor is proposed. This tunable antenna can be designed as a built-in antenna with the full coverage. Simulations and experiments are conducted to clarify its operation.
