Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) An investigation was performed to construct the three-dimensional electromagnetic articulograhy designed for observing dynamic behavior of articulators. Spatial patterns of magnetic fields produced from six transmitter coils are represented using splines so as to interpolate given samples of magnetic data. The position and orientation of the receiver coil are then determined so that the difference between measured and predicted strengths of the received signal is minimized. Experiments revealed that the position estimation error is about 0.23mm for a cubic test area of 6-cm side length. This error increased slightly (about 0.1mm) when the receiver coil was rotated from zero to 90 degrees, while the error in estimating the orientation was quite small (0.38 degrees). Also, the Marquardt method showed a good convergence for solving the nonlinear receiver-state problem.
