Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) For use by the general public in the open air, we have been studying stereoscopic large LED displays that provide plural viewing areas. Although the developed stereoscopic displays enable multiple viewers to view the stereoscopic images without any special eyewear, it is necessary for each viewer to move to stand within one of the viewing areas. Thus, it is important to evaluate usability of large stereoscopic display based on viewing behaviors. To investigate viewing behaviors of multiple viewers, we have developed a system for real-time measurement of three viewer's positions by use of two cameras. In comparison to viewing experiment with single viewer, movement distances in horizontal direction decreased in the experiments with three viewers. It is shown that lateral moving time decreased by stereoscopic display in the design without pseudoscopic viewing areas.
