Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Three dimensional optical recording using human fingernail as recording medium is demonstrated as a new data-carrying method. A bit is recorded inside a fingernail using a femtosecond laser pulse as write source. The size of the bit is measured and the recording density is calculated. The recording density is 3.6Gbit/cm^3. We discovered the bit emitted stronger than the auto-fluorescence of the fingernail. The fluorescence increase seems to be caused by the denaturation of keratin caused by an irradiation of a femtosecond laser pulse, from comparison of spectra of the bit and auto-fluorescence, and heat experiment of keratin. Using the fluorescence increase, the fluorescence readout of the bit recorded in three dimensionally is performed.
