Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) As broadband internet access is more commonly provided, applications of streaming data transport becomes more popular, and wide-area multicast technology will be more important. In such multicast services, the server and client programs must correspond to each other. However, in the case of wide-area (or open) services, it is not easy to distribute the correct client application program to all prospective users, and also hard to update those programs as the latest version. In this paper, we propose a framework of programmable multicast applications based on Flexcast protocol and JavaApplet. In this method, we do not need the standardization effort of client application programs before starting services.
