Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) This paper experimentally evaluates the performance of adaptive control method of delayed transmission for massive and intensive telecommunication traffic expected in communication-broadcasting integrated services. The method adaptively delays data transmissions from TV viewers depending on the congestion states, so that the severe congestion can be avoided. The authors' previous study demonstrated its fundamental effectiveness through computer simulation. The present study, as a sequel to it, evaluates the performance of the method through experiments on a test bed. The test bed consists of approximately 100 terminals each of which can emulate thousands of TV viewers. The experiments on the test bed, as opposed to the computer simulation, can take account of the detailed behavior of protocols and server processes. The obtained results quantitatively demonstrate the performance of the adaptive control method and its adaptiveness under various traffic conditions.
