Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Large-mode-area (LMA) single-mode fibers are vital component for many applications such as high power delivery, fiber amplifier, data transmission, and so on. Although standard optical fibers have difficulties in obtaining both large mode area and single-mode operation, all-silica photonic crystal fibers, also called holey fibers, could be considered as good candidates for realizing LMA single-mode fibers because of their endlessly single-mode properties. In this paper, we numerically demonstrate the possibility of improved LMA endlessly single-mode holey fibers. We compare a standard holey fiber with a core formed by one missing air hole (HF1) with other types of holey fibers that have three, six, and seven missing neighboring air holes, and we find that HF1 shows the lowest macro-bending loss property among these four types of endlessly single-mode holey fiber structure with the same effective area.
