Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) This paper investigates the effect of compressing result sets for response time on DBMSs. We implemented a compression architecture on PostgreSQL and conducted experiments. The results showd that (1) the compression accelerates the response time at most 11 times compared with conventional architecture and (2) the compression degrages the response time when transmission facilites are well prepared and the amount of transmission data size is small.
