Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Optical-beam deflection by ultrasound is realized when the beam width is small enough compared to the sound wavelength. The optical output angle is proportional to the sound pressure. We observed the focused sound field in water at 2MHz by scanning the incident laser position in the directions of propagation axis and transducer radial axis. Comparing with the results of hydrophone measurements and theoretical calculation, we found a reasonable agreement for the main-lobe peak, and disagreement for the side-lobe. The phase near the focal point was measured to be almost constant along the radial direction. The results were explained by considering the optical integrated effects along the laser beam path.
