Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) We have developed the policy refinement method for policy-based self-managing systems, which aims at reducing the administrator's effort to complete appropriate policy rule set suitable for the large-scale and complicated system providing today's continuous IT services. This method has two functions; the priority control function can invalidate rules involving unsuccessful recovery actions, and the mutual distribution function can add new rules according to the change of the system structure. To achieve the effective rule distribution, the system structure similarity assessment function with its data model suitable for maintaining the relationship between the policy rules and the structure information has also been developed. Therefore the available rule candidates may be narrowed down to small number enough for the administrator to examine carefully in case of adding new rules.
