Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Receiving environments for mobile reception of digital terrestrial television broadcasting are very severe because of the low antenna height, small antenna gain, and the multi-path fading effect. To maintain good receiving quality, diversity reception technology is studied. In the case of diversity reception with portable terminals, we have the following problems : (1) Due to the size limitation of the portable terminals, the distance between the two diversity antennas is restricted and (2) In many cases we can't use the same two antennas due to the restrictions of terminal design. To overcome these problems, new diversity reception technology for mobile and portable receivers is developed. As a result, we achieve good receiving quality in both laboratory and field tests.
