Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Mobile ad hoc networks (MANET) are considered as a new paradigm of non-infrastructure mobile wireless communication systems. In order to provide secure communication between nodes, in MANET, efficient public key based node authentication scheme is indispensable. In the paper, we propose a scalable node authentication scheme for MANET based on decentralized CA (certificate authority) using threshold cryptography theory. The novel feature of the proposed scheme is to increase the number of CA in the network area temporally by dynamically assigning CA function for normal nodes. This is called temporal certificate authorities (SCA) in this paper. With this control, average path length between CA and each node is shortened, and it brings smaller authentication delay and low signaling traffic. Performance evaluation obtained by computer simulation show that by using SCA, the system is able to provide fast certificate update and low signaling traffic.
