Abstract(in English) We propose a novel method for optical fiber dispersion measurement using optical single sideband (SSB) modulation. In the proposed method, we alternate the sideband of the probe light between upper and lower sidebands, and derive the dispersion value from the phase shift induced by the alternation of the sideband. Moreover, the sign of the dispersion can be measured only from the output light by setting the durations of the upper and lower sideband asymmetrically. In this paper, we first explain the principle of operation of the proposed method for the dispersion measurement using optical SSB modulation, and show the experimental demonstration.
