Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) This paper proposes a position-detectable fiber-optic vibration sensor system, which employs an optical fiber ring interferometer with an additional delay-loop inserted between 3×3 and 2×2 couplers. The delay-loop makes the system possess two virtual paths of different optical length between the two couplers. Because of eliminated spurious responses and enhanced signal to noise ratio, the proposed system is able to localize vibrating position more robustly than that previously reported by the present authors. After describing the proposed system configuration and its basic principle, some experiments were carried out showing that the system is effective in localizing vibrating position almost independent of the Fourier spectra of the applied vibration.
