Oscillation Characteristic of a Figure of Eight Laser

Abstract(in English) An optical loop memory by using a passively mode-locked figure of eight fiber laser is demonstrated. We found that dual pulses with pulse separation of integral multiple of 22ns were stably recirculated in the laser. By using this character and setting average dispersion of iolator loop is 0.29ps/nm/km, multiple-pulse oscillations up to 20 bits were stably achieved. We realized optical loop memory of 7 bits pulse line by setting average dispersion of isolator loop is 17.0ps/nm/km.
