Abstract(in English) | It is well known that the spectra of optical short pulses with intense powers broaden extremely its width through the interactions of nonlinear optical effect due to high-intensity optical pulse and group-velocity dispersion of a dispersion-flattened / decreasing fiber (DFDF). Recently, the generation of ultra broad supercontinuum light in a conventional telecommunications fiber that was tapered has been reported elsewhere [8] by femtosecond pulses from a Ti:sapphire laser. In this paper, we estimate numerically the group-velocity dispersion of tapered fibers with a narrow taper. The effective area of the fundamental mode in a tapered fiber is also calculated based on finite element method using the scalar field distributions. Using such a tapered fiber with the managed dispersion profile due to tapering, the supercontinuum generation is numerically analyzed based on a split-step Fourier method, taking into account the harmonic oscillator model (Lorentzian model) for the generalized Raman scattering susceptibility as well as higher-order dispersion and nonlinearities. |
