Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) It is well known that the spectra of optical short pulses with intense powers broaden extremely its width through the interactions of nonlinear optical effect due to high-intensity optical pulse and group-velocity dispersion of a dispersion-flattened / decreasing fiber (DFDF). Recently, the generation of ultra broad supercontinuum light in a conventional telecommunications fiber that was tapered has been reported elsewhere [8] by femtosecond pulses from a Ti:sapphire laser. In this paper, we estimate numerically the group-velocity dispersion of tapered fibers with a narrow taper. The effective area of the fundamental mode in a tapered fiber is also calculated based on finite element method using the scalar field distributions. Using such a tapered fiber with the managed dispersion profile due to tapering, the supercontinuum generation is numerically analyzed based on a split-step Fourier method, taking into account the harmonic oscillator model (Lorentzian model) for the generalized Raman scattering susceptibility as well as higher-order dispersion and nonlinearities.
