Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) As the optical fiber Bragg grating (FBG) has an excellent potential as a strain sensor, the authors have made efforts to apply it to distortion sensing system for various type of structures, such as tunnels and bridges. This report describes about a recent field trial operating at the Seikan Under-Sea Tunnel. The field experiment was started on 3, December 2001 for 1-year term for feasibility studies. The system configurations and installation techniques are presented.
