Abstract(in English) Basic properties of optical whispering gallery modes in dielectric micro-spheres and microdisks are reviewed.Lasing behavior of dye doped polystyrene micro-spheres with diameter ranging from 5 mm to 92mm is presented.Light injection effects are demonstrated with the mode order number dependent correlation between WG modes.Mode elimination by a stratified structure is also demonstrated.
