Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) An NCAP(Nematic Curvilinear Aligned Phase)reflective light valve addressed by MOS FET array was developed for a VGA projector. This light valve has a 2 inch diagonal display area and 64Ox480 pixels. The aperture ratio of this MOS chip is 90%.The data and scanning drivers are fully integrated on the MOS substrate. The reflectance of this light valve using a 7Vrms driving voltage with collimated light and an F, 5.6 optical system is 38%.A full color image is projected using 3 of these panels,an F/5.6 Schlieren optical system and a 150W metal halide lamp.It shows 200lm brightness with a contrast ratio greater than 40. (VGA(Video Graphics Array)is a standard for output signalsto displays proposed by International Business Machines Corporation)
