Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Wax and Ziskind have proposed an approach for detecting the number of coherent signals impinging on a passive sensor array, based on Minimum Description Length (MDL) principle. This approach includes the maximum likelihood bearing estimation, which is a multivariate nonlinear optimization problem. Therefore it requires huge computational cost for solving the problem. This paper proposes an efficient alternating optimization algorithm for this problem. We succeed to separate a component depending on one variable parameter from ML criterion. It makes the algorithm efficient. Finally results by computer simulations are shown to demonstrate the validity of the proposed algorithm and the initialization of bearing parameters in the optimization problem is discussed.
