A Method for Control and Improvement of ROI Image Quality in JPEG2000

Abstract(in English) In JPEG2000 functions, there is the ROI (Region of Interest) function for preserving image quality of a part of an image. However, image quality of Non-ROI becomes low according to the area size of ROI and the data-rates of the code stream. To solve this problem, several methods to control the data-rate of ROI have been proposed, In these methods, ROI image quality tends to be low proportional to the data-rates of the code stream. In this paper, we propose a new method of improvement of ROI image quality better than that of conventional methods. The proposed method can compensate the rounding error on the ROI coefficient in encoding.
