Abstract(in English) X-ray fluoroscopy images are widely used for evaluating kinematics of an artificial knee joint in vivo after the total knee arthroplasty (TKA). Although some researcher has studied on computer-aided system to analyze X-ray fluoroscopy images, they did not apply their methods to occluded images. This paper proposes a novel method for evaluating kinematics of the artificial knee joint applicable to occluded images. Our method estimates the position and poses of the artificial knee joint in vivo based on fuzzy image matching by using X-ray fluoroscopy images and the three-dimensional (3-D) geometric model of the artificial knee joint, and quantifies the motion of knee. Our method was applied to simulation images, phantom images and images of subjects. These results showed that the proposed method was effective in evaluation of kinematics of the artificial knee joint in occluded images.
