Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) A method for understanding the reason why a baby is crying is proposed using frequency analyses of the baby's voice. Here, especially two causes that are hunger and sleepiness are considered. It is clarified that the frequency spectrum of babies' cries keeps to take large values in high frequency region when the baby is hungry, while the values becomes small in low frequency region, when the baby is sleepy. Using these tendencies, a rule-based system which can classify babies' cries in a hungry stage and those in a sleepy one. Computer simulations show that about 80% of the babies' cries are correctly classified. Moreover, it is shown the threshold of the frequency to classify the hunger and sleepiness depends on the babies month age.
