A Packet Analyzer for JPEG2000 Codestrams and Its Application to Error Correction

Abstract(in English) In this report, a packet analyzer that attaches several new functions to JPEG2000 codestream is designed and its application to error correction is demonstrated. This packet analyzer is intended to treat packets in the JPEG2000 codestream, where packet header information and body data are separated from each other by considering the packet structure. In the present work, we limited the application of the designed analyzer to the error correction and therefore the required amount of memory can be reduced. For error correction purposes, the packet headers and body data are FEC-coded, then resulting data are arranged and output as the FEC-coded JPEG2000 codestream. The features provided by our designed analyzer are: it can process the JPEG2000 encoded video codestream at a maximum bit rate of 50 Mb/s in real-time, the newly attached error correction functionality preserves the standard JPEG2000 error resilience tools and other default features of the JPEG2000. Simulation results shows that high error correction capability can be provided with the JPEG2000 codestream.
