Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) This paper presents an overview of Path Computation Element (PCE). Constrained-based path computation is a important functional block of traffic engineering (TE) in MPLS and GMPLS networks. In the conventional network architecture, the path computation block is considered as a part of the node function. However, as the path computation function becomes complex due to inter-domain TE, it is necessary to separate the path computation block, which is called PCE, from the node function. PCE applicabilities for multi-layer TE and inter-area TE are described. In addition, PCE standardization is also introduced.
