Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Optical Code (OC) enabling paths are investigated, which potentially resolve granularity problem inherent to wavelength-routed network. In this study, we focus on improving bandwidth utilization of one wavelength, which means we aim to establish multiple paths on one wavelength. Two approaches, called optical code (OC)-labeled path and optical code division multiplexing (OCDM) path, are proposed to resolve the above problem. To support the proposed OC-based paths, two optical cross-connect architectures are also described. In this paper, On-Off source traffic model, which has the ability of handling different traffic, is used as the general analysis model and due to multiple access interference (MAI) in OCDM path, an approximate model is proposed for evaluation. Based upon the above traffic model, performance of proposed OC-based paths is studied in terms of packet loss probability and the so-called concept of variable-capacity optical path is validated.
