Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) The more multimedia streaming application users increase, the more such application traffic will occupy IP network traffic. In this paper, we term such streaming application traffic as "stream flows", and other usual application traffic as "non-stream flows". Most non-stream flows are TCP flows, and most stream flows are UDP flows. There are many problems when both flows are queued into the same single queue, because different TCP and UDP behaviors cause adverse interactions. In this paper, we first classify non-stream flows into several classes using differences in statistical characteristics and QoS requirements of upper layer applications, because each class has different interactions between stream flows and non-stream flows. We then verify the characteristics of each class. Based on this, we propose a new method of class assignment which dynamically assigns a proper class to a newly arrived stream flow, considering the conditions and characteristics of each class. The method we propose can reduce these negative interactions, and we discuss effective results we obtained through simulation experiments.
