Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) H.323 based video conference applications commonly use UDP for their video and audio transmission. Unlike TCP, UDP does not have any congestion control mechanism that is defined as a standard. Therefore, this might lead to severe congestion that would cause huge degradation of network utilization. This TECHNICAL REPORT discusses network mechanisms to cope with the congestion caused by a number of such UDP flows, and shows that the dynamic admission control of UDP flows that is achieved by the proposed MXQ mechanism, could address the problem. It is supported by a number of measurements taken from prototype network systems.
