Abstract(in English) Protection function is required for enterprise access network using PON (Passive Optical Network) architecture to provide high reliability. However, because the standardized protection mechanisms for PON are much complicate, it may cause increasing cost. In this paper, we discuss that layer 2 control protocols can be applied for PON as a solution for economical protection mechanisms.
