Abstract(in English) | In photonic crystals (PhCs), large improvement in Q value of point defect ultra-small cavities is going to be achieved. Among PhC devices, a resonant tunneling cavity that has a high Q and small mode volume is expected to be applied to an ultra-small low-loss optical switch. In this report, a PhC cavity with high-Q and high-efficiency is designed and fabricated to demonstrate basic photonic switch operation. As the result, a cavity with Q_v of over 70, 000 and transmittance of over 50% is achieved. Moreover, basic characteristics of photonic switch are revealed and possibility of a PhC functional circuit is shown. |
