Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Authors propose a new fast VCC setup scheme that reduces greatly a VCC setup delay for wide area private ATM networks.Since ATM is based on a connection oriented protocol,a virtual channel connection(VCC) has to be established before sending data. When actual data transmission duration is much shorter than a VCC setup delay, especially in case of transaction processing, data transfer throughput becomes degraded in comparison with connectionless protocol. There are several studies to solve this problem. However, these have other following problems:(1)slow flexibility for network topology changes,(2)limited network scalability,(3)control complexity. In this paper,to solve the VCC setup delay problem as well as above 3 problems, the authors propose a new scheme that starts sending data just after the VCC setup signaling. The performance evaluation shows that the proposed scheme can transfer short data effectively for even wide area ATM networks.
