Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) This paper describes an incision simulation system for assisting anal atresia surgery. Anal atresia is malformation that the anus is closing. A surgical treatment is necessary in neonatal period. However, there are risks that normal tissues such as the urethra and genitalia are damaged in operations, because shapes and the positions of the rectum and the anal sphincter vary depending on types of the anal atresia. It is important to understand positions of soft tissues, muscles and organs before and during a surgical operation. Therefore, we develop an incision simulation system that can generate reference images for surgical aids. This simulation system we develop here can simulate an incision of the breech by inputting the depth of the incision and the incision area by the mouse. The system consists of five functions; construction of mass-spring models, deformation, reconstruction of volume data, visualization, user interface. The experimental result showed that this system can simulate incisions for assisting surgeons to understand positional relation among incision parts and organs, and achieves multiple incisions in short time.
