Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) A concept and its implementation method, called Webified Video, is proposed for viewing broadcast content that converts TV programs into Web content and integrates the results with related information, enabling one to flexibly browse the original content with value-added content and from various viewpoints. First, a TV program is recorded and hierarchically segmented into topics using metadata such as in the program's closed captions. Then, the segmented closed captions are associated with various related information by methods using complementary information retrieval and live chat. The Web content integrated with related information is browsed using the zooming interface by which the scenes with different levels of detail can be switched from one to another. Experiments on the hierarchical segmentation of closed captions, the association with related information and the zooming interface show the effectiveness of the proposed method.
