Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) In this research, we propose a method of 3D personal position acquisition that is needed in order to provide supportive information and navigation for a wearable Augmented Reality (AR) system. The user wears an independent position tracking unit that consists of a magnetometer, an accelerometer and a barometric pressure sensor. Indoors, It is difficult for a magnetometer to accurately measure the user's position and direction because of the disturbance generated by the various magnetic fields present. We use the positon tracking unit in combination with 2D visual markers captured by a camera that we heretofore leverage for a wearable AR system. The marker contains global position information, and the position of the user is calculated using the relative position of the camera to the marker. Our method corrects the user's position obtained from the position tracking unit using the one obtained from the marker. Additionally, the altitude is calculated using a barometric pressure sensor.
