Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Video communication services have been expanding as mor e and more users get access to broadband connections. With Internet protocol (IP) networks, data packets can be lost or severely delayed. Therefore, it is important to manage the quality of service (QoS) during service to guarantee a certain level of quality. QoS management means quality control based on perceptual quality. However, the accuracy of video quality estimation based on network quality is not sufficient, and one packet loss influence to following picture frames because of intra-frame prediction encoding. This paper presents a framework for in-service quality control for video communication services and proposes a new quality measure, a network quality measure considering type of picture frame. Experimental results show the applicability of using the network quality measures considering type of picture frame for estimating user-perceived quality.
