Abstract(in English) Wireless ad hoc networks support multi hop communication without the need of infrastructure. They are easy to deploy and have found many applications. Routing is the key technology of the networks. There have been many routing protocols proposed for wireless ad hoc networks for experiments and tests. However, most of the routing protocols don't consider the link heterogeneity; they adopt the hop count as the metric, and the route tends to contain weak links, which provides low performance. In the paper we used the Received Signal Strength Indication (RSSI) information in the on-demand routing protocols, and proposed the Link Heterogeneity Aware AODV (LHA-AODV) protocol, where the initial route is discovered on demand, and the link metric is inversely related with the link RSSI. When the initial route is used for forwarding packets, the route information is Locally Updated (LU). By preferring the route with a short metric, the route converges gradually to the local optimum, containing the strong links and providing low Packet Error Ratio (PER) and high throughput. We evaluated the LHA-AODV in the office environment and found that LHA-AODV acquires great improvement to the original AODV.
