| Abstract(in English) | In this paper, we developed a system which can give users meanings or definitions of keywords using a method which narrows down WWW search results by Japanese dependency analysis.Firstly, the system searches home pages which contain a keyword a user input through Google. Secondly, it narrows down the search result using Japanese dependency analysis. Finally, it shows a likelihood ratio with which the each sentence of the search results expresses the meaning of a word. With experiments we found our system is better than regular Japanese dictionaries on searching meanings or definitions of slang and technical terms and can handle new words earlier than new word dictionaries. |
