Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) This paper proposes a novel interactive environment for browsing multiple videos simultaneously. Today, we have a lot of video sources including TV broadcasting and internet movies, and the amount of the video sources is expected to increase more and more. This leads to that we sometimes want to watch a number of videos simultaneously. One of the simplest ways to realize this function is to display several videos side by side. However, this approach is not necessarily easy to use. In order to solve this problem, this paper proposes a simultaneous browsing interface which realizes user's favorite viewing style by interactively maintaining the regions of each video channel on a display screen. The following important three points are discussed: (1) How to reflect the degree of user's interest to the display attributes of each video channel, (2) How to realize a simple and intuitive operation of users, and (3) How to occupy the display screen by several videos which can move and resize their own regions on the screen automatically. Furthermore, a prototype of the system is implemented.
