Virtual Environment and Medical Cybernetics : Medical Application of Advanced Information Technology

Abstract(in English) In this article, research activities of the Research Division on Advanced Information Technology belonging to the Information Synergy Center (ISC), Tohoku University will be introduced The basic theme of our laboratory, is "medical cybernetics" which means cybernetics (science on information, communication and control in biological systems) applied to medical fields such as 1) estimation and control of cardiovascular system, 2) intelligent rehabilitation using virtual reality, and 3) assessing biological effects of visual stimulation. This article will also present how advanced information technologies, especially virtual environments, are used for several case studies and what direction our activities will innovate themselves toward.
