Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Recognition theory has treated facial expressions as to be innate. Ekman established the recognition method of facial expressions using the action units. He verified the innateness of facial expressions according to the recognition tests held in many nations. The photographs used in the examination, however, were unusual excess expressions. In this paper, recognition tests were conducted using photographs of facial expressions in which the intensity of them were a slight as to be seen in our lives. Those were scanned from Ekman's new book. The results showed low recognition rates except for happy face. If the action units were used for the recognition, the discrimination of facial expressions should be clear. However, the results showed that recognition errors were occurred among the facial expressions of having uncommon action units. The innateness of facial recognition should be studied more precise using slight expressions.
