Featural and Configural Processing in the Implicit Learning of Visual Regularity in Faces

Abstract(in English) In this article, the previous studies demonstrating implicit learning of visual regularity in faces were reviewed and shown that they were primarily concerned with the acquisition of visual regularity in facial parts or in the relationships among particular facial parts, both of which were considered to be partial characteristics of the face. Results of a newly-conducted ,experiment were then presented, which showed that visual regularity of wholistic nature could also be implicitly learned. In this experiment, wholistic visual regularity was operationally defined as a particular face that was morphed with each of several other faces, whose resulting morphed faces were presented for subjects to examine at study.
