Abstract(in English) As a means for recording man's face region at high speed and stably out of the person image during a walk, the face image capturing system was developed. The system consists of three elements, the face detection, the face tracking, and the best appearance selection which chooses the face picture suitable for individual identification. In this paper, the improvement of the face detection is presented. Under the bad environment such as a backlight, lighting shortage and a height camera, it realizes the increase of the face detection rate by robustness to lighting condition change and a downward face detector. And it also realizes the reduction of the false positive rate by the texture and color information. It succeeded in 115 persons' detection among 119 passersby under a real scene (97% of a detection success).
