Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Recently, various face detection methods of high speed and high detection rate have been proposed. However these methods also have rather high false detections. How to reduce the false detections without decreasing the face detection rate is an important problem, but few methods were reported to address it. In this paper, we propose a new method for reducing false detections using Gabor Wavelet Transform and Support Vector Machine. Our method can reduce false detectiohs by up to 90% only at a cost of 1% detection rate. We use Retinal Sampling to reduce the dimension of features to improve the processing speed. One face candidate area can be processed within 2.4 msec using Pentium4, 3GHZ PC.
