Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) The purpose of this study is to investigate the effects of intragroup task conflict and resolution styles on sense of achievement and performance. 24 groups of 5 undergraduates (33 males, 87 females) participated in the study. They attended 18 min problem-solving discussion, expected to reach a final consensus. Results revealed that experienced conflict induced both lower sense of group achievement and degree of consensus. Compromise is the effective resolution style for ad hoc groups with time pressure to meet higher sense of group achievement. Although experienced conflict had negative effects on groups, how much the substansive conflict was reduced during the discussion led higher sense of group achievement.
