Abstract(in English) The authors have been developing a software for synthesizing facial caricatures based on interactive genetic algorithm. Our aim is to realize a system, which can be used by anyone in synthesizing a caricature with user's impression of the object. Generally, hairstyle is one important element that is responsible for the impression of the object. However, it is expressed simply in most of the conventional systems due to its large variation across different persons. In some of these systems we have to select one from a set of pre-defined hairstyles. Also, there are methods of simple processing of hair of a real image. On the other hand, in our proposed method, we can control hairstyle using few parameters and, they can be utilized in interactive genetic algorithm. First, we categorized hairstyles based on a catalogue and then we have chosen hairstyle elements to model them. We designed some hairstyles to investigate the expression ability of the proposed method in this paper.
