Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) This paper studies the relationship between the accuracy of the interpolation between and update interval in dead reckoning scheme of a Distributed Virtual Environment (DVE) with transmission lag. The authors have already shown that the Taylor Expansion can be applied to the prediction of the motion of avatar (a virtual user) based on the polynomial expression on the object data in a DVE, since it is assumed that .these motions of the avatar are originally taken as a set of temporally continuous pattern. Based on the nature of the Taylor Expansion, the new dead reckoning method is proposed to interpolate the attribute data which arrives at discrete time periods. The simulation experiments are performed to evaluate the validity of the proposed method with the comparison of Position History Based Dead Reckoning (PHBDR) from the viewpoint of the interpolation error. As a result, by using the proposed method the interpolation error can be decreased in comparison with PHBDR in average.
